During the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmo, Sweden, authorities plan to close the airspace due to the risk of terrorist attacks and potential threats to the event.

This was reported by the Swedish public organization “SVT Nyheter”.

According to the source, the Swedish police are actively working in preparation for Eurovision 2024, quickly responding to possible incidents, ranging from mass protests to rumors of planned attacks by international terrorist groups. Particular attention is paid to preventing possible attacks using drones during the competition. To ensure the safety of all participants and guests of Malmö, the police will use airspace lockdown measures and technology to detect and prevent drone flights.

Per Engström, head of the national police department, emphasizes the importance of this decision: “Drones can disrupt the event. We will create a no-fly zone and can effectively control the situation with this system.”

It is also reported that there will be an increased police presence during the event. Local forces will be joined by armed units and police from neighboring countries Denmark and Norway. They will provide security at all venues: from the concert arena to hotels and possible protests. However, Per Engström emphasizes that at the moment there are no direct threats to the holding of Eurovision: “We do not see any specific threats directly to the event, but the risk for Sweden as an integral nation remains. This certainly applies to Eurovision.” .

As Kursor previously reported, performer Eden Golan will represent our country at the competition. The artist is preparing for the performance with all her might and named her top 5 favorites who can win the prize.
