African media personalities welcome the Royal vision for the development of sports infrastructure in Morocco

On the sidelines of a visit to the Mohammed VI Football Complex, several participants in the 7th General Assembly of the Atlantic Federation of African Press Agencies (FAAPA) underlined that this major sports building illustrates the progress made by Morocco in terms of development of sports infrastructures, considering that the Kingdom’s experience in this area constitutes a model to follow in Africa.

On this occasion, the Director General of the Senegalese Press Agency (APS), Thierno Ahmadou Sy, welcomed the far-sighted vision of HM the King for the development of sport in Morocco, noting that the Mohammed VI Football Complex is a structure benchmark sportswoman in Africa.

Mr. Sy thus insisted that quality infrastructure is necessary for the promotion of African football and its success in various international events.

He noted that the visit to the Mohammed VI Football Complex allowed him to witness first-hand the remarkable evolution of sport in Morocco, adding that the fact that this structure welcomes African athletes testifies to the solidarity of the Kingdom with African countries in the different areas.

Noting that the Mohammed VI Football Complex constitutes a source of pride for all Africans, Mr. Sy stressed that Africa is called upon to follow the Moroccan model in terms of sports infrastructure.

For her part, the General Coordinator of the Network of Women Leaders of African Press Agencies (NWL-FAAPA), affiliated with FAAPA, Carine Edwige Mindze, indicated that this visit gave her the opportunity to learn about the various aspects of progress made by the Kingdom.

Ms. Edwige Mindze also highlighted the Kingdom’s dynamics in Africa and its various achievements, maintaining that the growth of sport in Morocco is part of a global development process.

She also stressed that the particular interest given by Morocco to sports training is an investment in skills which constitute an important lever for development.

Members of the FAAPA delegation visited the various facilities of the Mohammed VI Football Complex, including the fields, the medical center and the training areas, where explanations were provided to them on this major sports infrastructure.

As a reminder, the FAAPA held its 7th General Assembly on January 22 and 23 in Salé under the theme “African information: a major sovereignty issue”.

This two-day General Assembly was marked by the adoption of the Federation’s action plan for 2024 which covers several areas, namely organization, professional training and qualification, multimedia, communication, cooperation and partnership.

It also examined and adopted the report of the 6th General Assembly, the report on the meetings of the Executive Council, the report on the training seminars and the financial report. At the end of this General Assembly, five bilateral cooperation agreements were signed between member press agencies of the Federation.
