Juan Guillermo Aristizábal, a renowned urologist from the Paisa capital, was murdered by a man identified as Jhon Ferney Cano González, who later took his own life.
Yesterday at approximately 10:50 a.m., the Health Emergency Operational Center of the Office of Territorial Management, Emergencies and Disasters, received alarming information about a homicide in a private medical office, located on the ninth floor of the building that houses the Medellín Clinicin the El Poblado neighborhood.
According to preliminary reports, the perpetrator also caused a fire in the office facilities, resulting in two injured people and one fatality, in addition to significant material damage.

The Ministry of Health strongly condemns these acts, which constitute a flagrant violation of International Humanitarian Law and the Medical Mission in Colombia, as established by international conventions and national regulations. The competent authorities are urged to carry out a thorough investigation into these events and take the necessary measures to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and that these unfortunate events do not go unpunished.
“We remember that, according to International Humanitarian Law and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the right to life is inviolable, and it is essential to protect and respect the lives of humanitarian personnel in the exercise of their mission. We urgently call on the civilian population to respect the life and safety of those who work in the health sector,” said MinSalud.
It was learned that the aggressor was identified as Jhon Ferney Cano González, who would be a patient receiving psychiatric care on another floor of the same clinic. According to the authorities, after committing the homicide, he would have started a fire and in the bathroom of the office it ended his life.
