The Permanent Representative of Algeria to the United Nations, Ammar Benjameh, stressed the return with greater strength and momentum, supported by the legitimacy of the General Assembly and broader support from the members of the United Nations regarding full membership of Palestine.

Ammar Bin Jama explained, “We will return stronger and more vocal with the support of the legitimacy of the General Assembly and the broader support of the members of the United Nations. This is just another step in the journey towards full membership for Palestine.”

During his speech after the American veto on the Algerian draft of the Security Council resolution recommending the acceptance of Palestine’s membership in the United Nations, he expressed his deep gratitude, on behalf of the Arab Group, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, and the Non-Aligned Movement, to all those who voted in favor of the resolution that was presented.

Bin Jama said, “The overwhelming support for the implementation of the State of Palestine sends a crystal clear message: The State of Palestine deserves its rightful place among the members of the United Nations.”

He addressed those who were unable to support accepting the state of Palestine today, saying: “We hope you will do so next time.”

Ben Jama concluded by saying: “Algeria’s efforts will not stop until the State of Palestine becomes a full member of the United Nations.”
