The Libya Technocrats Group said that the UN missions led and staffed by mixed foreigners from several countries do not rise to the level of understanding the political, social and military components of the Libyan conflict, and their failure is repeated in all conflict areas in the world.

This came in a statement by the gathering regarding the resignation of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Abdullah Batili, a copy of which was obtained by “Libya Eye”.

The statement stressed the lack of good intentions and desire on the part of the Libyan parties to achieve a permanent solution to the conflict that has been ongoing since 2011, and their distance from engaging in a democratic process and the peaceful transfer of power.

The group added in its statement: “We have also seen the extent of foreign interference in Libyan affairs, which represents a real obstacle to achieving the solution, and the strengthening of some parties by external parties and unifying their positions and interests with them… We expect this complex situation to continue for a long time, given the clashing interests locally and internationally.

The statement pointed to the continuing series of failures of scattered and conflicting local and international efforts, which distances us from a democratic solution and prepares for the emergence of political idolatry in the manner prevailing in many regions.

The Libyan Technocrats Gathering called for the necessity of moving away from political dependence on international bodies, and moving forward on a path achieved by the people and supported by the national Libyan parties.

The assembly also renewed its call to return to the people, as they are the source of authority in all constitutional norms and laws in the world, in order to choose a permanent constitutional basis for the country, through an electronic popular referendum, with all local and international parties submitting to its popular legitimacy.
