We are ready to offer wedding tourism experiences and holidays throughout the year in Greece and its islands, said the director of Planet Holidays, Mr. Harry Kyrillou.
Mr. Kyrillou said he supports Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ vision for a year-round tourism market, adding that his company has been offering year-round vacations in Athens for years, and last year decade and in Thessaloniki, Crete and Rhodes, offering holidays in areas where hotels remain open in winter.
Areas with a great cultural heritage and a wide range of special interest activities such as gastronomy, cycling, hiking and wine tours are candidates for extended tourism seasons, Mr. Kyrillou underlined, acknowledging however that this trend should start from the mainland and from the largest islands of Greece.
He stressed that the transition to year-round tourism requires cooperation between the tourism industry and the Greek government, which implies the active participation of hoteliers, restaurants and other service providers. After all, as he said, many of Planet Holidays’ customers prefer authentic local experiences and support the local economy, rather than choosing an all-inclusive resort.
