“San Boukliye”, the song attributed to Joverlein Moïse on social networks is actually the work of Lokynohah, a student at Quisqueya University.
At the beginning of last week, video clips of a song called “San Boukliye” made the rounds on social networks, notably on TikTok where Internet users attributed this music to Joverlein Moïse, the son of former president Jovenel Moïse who was murdered on July 7, 2021. But the truth behind this piece attributed to Joverlein is the work of Lovinsky Cherilus known by his artist name Lokynohahan international relations student at Quisqueya University identified as the real composer.
In these videos which have circulated endlessly on the web, we can hear a voice singing and which is accompanied by the photo of Joverlein Moïse. A montage that comes out from Tiktok which deceived several Internet users who at the same time forgot to give credit to Lokynohah who spoke to the editorial staff of Juno7 and demonstrated that the title “San boukliye” is his work. “For me, this is one of the greatest opportunities I have found in my career. I don’t know if the intention of the person who shared the music on TikTok was to harm me. While it was meant to hurt me and denigrate my work, it ultimately turned out to be a great benefit to me and my musical future. This allows many people to discover my talent,” he said.
Released on April 13, the song is available on the YouTube page of the young singer who currently has four songs in his repertoire. The 27-year-old explained the hidden story behind “San Boukliye”. “A friend of mine lost his parents within a year. As he sat talking to me, with tears in his eyes, I took all the emotions from our discussions and transformed them into music. Through my music, I share elements of my life, that of my friend, while giving meaning to this creation,” he detailed.
On Instagram, Rockfam rapper Lame, in this case Atros, shared the real version of the song, while inviting Internet users to watch it on Lokynohah’s YouTube page with the idea of helping people not not fall into confusion. In comments, Internet users reacted to salute the talent of the young artist native of Port-au-Prince.
As for Joverlein, who has been associated with this song, he has not reacted to this subject but continues to promote his very first piece entitled “Sa w wè a se sa” where excerpts have been published on his Facebook page Friday April 19.
Lovinsky Cherilus, also known as Lokynohah, started making music in 2019. He grew up without his mother, who chose to abandon him. He opted for music as a means of expression and to convey messages of hope to those going through difficulties. His favorite artists include the late Dejavou of Barikad Crew, Atros of Rockfam, Kenfs, Blaze One, Fantom and Wendyyy.
