This intimate meeting, marked by the presence of HM the King’s Advisor and founding President of the Essaouira-Mogador Association, Mr. André Azoulay, the President of the Essaouira Municipal Council, Tarik Ottmani, and other personalities from various spheres, brought together an audience eager for sound discoveries and refined musical emotions, attracted by the rich programming of this anniversary edition which continues until April 21.
Thus, the magic of chamber music, performed with virtuosity and passion by young prodigies, with the participation of a group of young people from the socio-cultural program “Mazaya”, transported the spectators into a sound universe where melody, technique and artistic sensitivity.
The varied compositions, ranging from timeless classics by Mozart, Schumann and Johann Sebastian Bach, to contemporary creations, offered a range of rich and diverse sounds, thus captivating the attention and senses of the audience charmed by the promising talent of these young musicians.
From the deeply vibrating cello to the delicacy of the piano, the subtle nuances of the clarinet and the powerful accents of the double bass, each performance resonated with a striking emotional intensity.
These masterful performances were punctuated by warm ovations, testifying to the audience’s deep appreciation for the talent and passion of the musicians, whose harmony was palpable throughout the iconic “Dar Souiri” space.
In a statement to MAP at the end of this concert, the artistic director of the festival, Dina Bensaïd, indicated that this edition marks the twentieth anniversary of this unmissable event, thus symbolizing a significant step in its journey.
“This year, we are celebrating not only our return to contact with our public, but also a retrospective on our two decades of existence, marked by commitment and passion for music,” underlined Ms. Bensaïd, also general director of the Tenor Foundation for Culture, co-producer of the event.
Hailing the virtuosity of these young talents, Ms. Bensaïd explained that the “Mazaya” program, supported by the Tenor Foundation for Culture, aims to promote the socio-professional integration of young people through music, by allowing out-of-school children to benefit a dual training, combining basic learning and an in-depth musical curriculum.
For her part, violinist Belkis Madyer, who enchanted the audience with a refined concerto, expressed her gratitude to the Souiri audience for their warm welcome and support for young talents.
“I am very proud to participate in such a prestigious and inclusive event,” she said, praising the importance of music as “a universal language capable of transcending cultural boundaries and touching hearts.”
Initiated by the Essaouira-Mogador Association, in co-production with the Ténor Foundation for Culture, this 20th edition, the first since the Covid-19 pandemic, offers music lovers of chamber music and lyrical art an experience original music with internationally renowned artists.
