Duck Race. Tradition returns today to the Alzette River

This Saturday, at around 3pm, the atrium of Neimënster Abbey, in Grund, will be small for the crowd that is expected, as usual, on the banks of the River Alzette, to watch another ‘Duck Race’. .

The 23rd edition of the event brings together participants and onlookers who will follow the journey of thousands of plastic ducks from rue Saint Quirin, where they will be thrown into the river.

The ducks are numbered and the first to cross the finish line are entitled to a prize. The owner of the winner gets a car and the one who comes in second is entitled to an outdoor kitchen.

In addition to the race itself, the event will feature music, stands of fast food (grills, vegetarian options and desserts) and drinks and entertainment for the little ones.

On Friday, the plastic ducks that are sold to participants in the site of the event were already sold out. But anyone who doesn’t want to miss out can purchase a physical ticket at the race site.

The ‘Duck Race’, organized by Table Ronde Luxembourgeoise with the support of the City of Luxembourg, has a charitable nature and its profits benefit four associations that work with children in need.
