The May holidays are the beginning of sea tourism, Dimitrina Goranova, chairman of the Association of Bulgarian Tour Operators, told BNR.
“For Easter, for many of us, the destination is also important from the point of view of celebrating the holiday. That is why the most preferred destination is Greece – both because of the sea and because of the fact that the Greeks are also Orthodox and celebrate Easter together with us,” she explained .
According to her, the destinations are traditional – the first is Greece, but there are also destinations such as Albania, which are increasingly gaining ground on the market. The user remains within Europe, stated Goranova.
A lot of Romanians come to us for Easter, she also noted.
“In the main resorts, units of hotels are opening, but when the tourist goes out to walk around the resort, he is faced with the fact that the resort is not yet prepared for the summer season, everything is closed, not cleaned,” she stressed.
According to her, we are already in an active season for sightseeing and cultural tourism, as the foreigners who visit our country are from Germany, Great Britain, and Spain.
Compared to last year, Goranova reported an increase in the cost of travel by about 10-15%.
“Travel is becoming more and more expensive, but so far we don’t see a clear tendency for Bulgarians to refuse to travel”.
According to her, the practice of early registrations has returned.
