Apollo Power, which operates in the field of solar energy, reports today (Sunday) that its subsidiary, SolarPaint, received a work order from Amazon in Europe last weekend.

The order includes the design, supply and installation of a solar power generation system based on Apollo Power technology. The order is intended for Amazon’s logistics warehouses in France and includes the installation of a solar system with a capacity of about 450 kilowatts on part of the roof of a logistics structure, which is limited in carrying the weight of standard solar panels.

The financial scope of the order amounts to about 750,000 euros, which will be paid throughout the project period, subject to meeting certain milestones.

According to Apollo, the order is part of Amazon’s efforts to realize its vision of reaching 100% electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2025 and a target of zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Apollo Power also points out that systems such as this, are designed to be a solution for additional structures belonging to Amazon and other large logistics centers, where there is a constructive difficulty in placing standard solar panels.

Apollo also notes that Amazon’s order also includes the design, supply and installation of a solar sidewalk for access to the logistics warehouses, in an area of about 50 square meters – another application from the company’s range of dual-use applications in existing areas, with a sidewalk used for pedestrians and cyclists. Also serve as a solar energy producer.

Getting started on the site is subject to various approvals that meet Amazon’s requirements and local regulations. Apollo Power predicts that the installation of the project will be completed during the fourth quarter of 2022.

Oded Rosenberg, CEO of Apollo Power, noted that “this invitation from Amazon is a significant milestone in realizing Apollo Power’s vision. Our solution is designed to enable the utilization of commercial and logistics areas that are unable to carry the weight of solar panels made of glass and are therefore required for an easy and flexible solution. At the same time, we are making progress with the establishment of a new production plant, which will increase our production output by 20 times. ”

Apollo shares are up about 3% today during trading on the stock exchange. In the past year, the stock has risen 72% and its value on the stock exchange has reached NIS 1 billion.
