(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 20 – The waste of politics and the PA costs Italians something like 500 billion euros, the equivalent of more than 8,470 euros per Italian citizen, including newborns. And precisely to cut waste, a popular initiative law proposal has arrived which will be presented on Monday 22 April in the Supreme Court, promoted by the “Stay United” committee made up of Adusbef, Anildd, Codacons, Committee of 500 and Unione Popolare. The promoters will then have 2 months to collect the 50,000 signatures required. “There are no official and certified numbers, but for example the famous “useless entities” weigh around 10 billion euros on the shoulders of the community, the inefficiencies of local public transport 12.5 billion euros, the slowness and chronic critical issues of justice 40 billion euros – writes the “Stay united” committee – Waste in the sector of purchases of goods and services by the Public Administration alone weighs approximately 30 billion on Italians, while the state’s real estate assets have a value of 60 billion euros, but it also includes completely unused properties and land.” Through the popular initiative law proposal that will be filed on Monday in the Supreme Court, the promoters ask, among other things, “to cut the costs of national and local politics by at least 13 billion euros, start monitoring aimed at abolishing useless bodies , recover resources for 39 billion euros from banking foundations, start an agreed securitization of credits at the Revenue Agency, use 2 billion euros by drawing on the so-called dormant accounts for the country’s emergencies”. The bill also indicates how and to what extent to allocate the resources recovered thanks to cuts to waste: “100 billion to be directed towards reducing the tax burden on citizens, 40 billion euros for the fight against high mortgage payments, 60 billion to support agriculture, 40 billion for healthcare, 60 billion for young people and families and 200 billion to reduce the exorbitant public debt”.
