Business, Film | “Furia” is now released

by time news

Spectacular drone images of Lofoten, famous streets, beaches and buildings – car chase on county roads. Lofoten offers juicy backdrops for the thriller in season two of “Furia”. The series’ scenes from Lofoten were recorded during an intense week in autumn 2022, and everything was organized by the Lofoten Film Collective in Lofoten.

The production is the local company’s largest assignment to date.

– It involved four months of preliminary work where we contacted many local service providers, says Yngvar Christensen, who was location manager.

Together with drone team leader Inge Wegge, he looks back on very intense days when 80 visitors in the production team and around 15 of his own employees were on the move.

– We are talking 24-hour work, yes, confirms Yngvar Christensen.

Was there something that didn’t go as planned that you had to resolve?

– All the time, the two grin.

This is what their job is all about – fixing things. First at the front, everything from accommodation to transport and catering. In addition, they must find locations that are suitable for providing the environment the series creators envision. When the recording takes place, they make sure to inform the local population, close roads and otherwise do everything to ensure that the production runs smoothly.

Fury 2

“The agents must once again juggle family life and secret intelligence work when extremists plan new terrorist attacks in Europe. And when an important mission takes a disastrous turn for Ragna and Asgeir, the people they love, Norway and the unity of Europe are put to serious tests. The fight against the forces of the darkest environments, xenophobia and right-wing extremism, takes the agents from the beautiful nature of Lofoten, to the cobbled streets of Budapest and to dramatic city life in Warsaw.”

Actors: Ine Marie Willmann (Troll), Pål Sverre Hagen (Exit, Valkyrie), Borys Szyc, Iren Reppen, Hallvard Holmen, Maria Mena, Henrik Schyffert.

Series creator: Gjermund S. Eriksen

Screenplay: Embla Veier Bugge, Mikkel Bugge, Ingar Johnsrud and Gjermund S. Eriksen

Director: Magnus Martens, Gjermund S. Eriksen, Michał Rogalski

But Lofoten did not disappoint “Furia”.

– Lofoten was exemplary! For example, we stopped the traffic in Henningsvær for one minute at a time when scenes were recorded. We never heard a complaint from the local population. It was a joy to work there, says Wegge.

– We have chosen Lofoten because it is extremely beautiful here. When we travel here, it is to get this landscape and the locations found here. It is quite extensive and expensive to move such a large staff from Oslo and Poland here, stated line producer for the recordings in Norway, Trond Mjøs in Monster AS to Lofotposten in 2022.

The local organizers appreciated working together with Monster. There were many needs and requirements that had to be met. Of the curious variety, we can mention that it was announced that soft drinks should not be offered during recording.

– But when it was all over, we bought two cases of soft drinks at our expense and presented them to the team, laughs Christensen.

The goodwill surrounding the production was great in the places where the recording took place. Parish priest Peter Wilhelmsson and the local population of Gimsøy are highlighted. Local police are also thanked for their contribution to recording scenes at the police station in Svolvær.

In the series, local faces also appear as extras and supporting roles. Among them are Line Johanne Dybfest and Julia Horach Ekelund.

It is safe to say that the TV viewers will get to experience the highs and lows of Lofoten during the series. It also includes car chases on narrow county roads.

– It was recorded on Kalleveien and Valbergsveien, but as is known, the filmmakers do not care that it should be geographically correct in the context of Lofoten. Many may remember the short jog in the TV series Twin, which started at Reine and ended at the police station in Svolvær, says Christensen.

The series was originally made for Viaplay, but the company sold it on to Prime Video – where it is now streamed. It is almost two years since the work was done, and now the film collective is looking forward to the viewers seeing the result.
