The explosion occurred at the Kalsu base in Babil province, which is used by Iraqi security forces and the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMU).

A committee was formed to investigate the cause of the explosion. According to preliminary data, the incident is not related to military actions.

However, a spokesman for the Iraqi security services previously said that the Kalsu base could have been hit by missiles or drones.

After the attack, a fire broke out in the complex where PMU and Iraqi security forces soldiers are stationed.

Muhaned al-Enazi, chairman of the security council of Babil province, said that the fire had been extinguished and they were now trying to determine whether the object was attacked by drones or missiles and who was responsible.

The explosion in Iraq was reported after Israel is believed to have carried out a strike in Iran’s Isfahan province, which is home to nuclear facilities. Iran-backed militants also blamed Israel for the incident in Iraq.

The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iranian-backed Shiite group, said on Saturday it had launched drones “against an important target” in the southern Israeli city of Eilat. According to her, it was a response to the strike in Iraq.

The group has previously claimed responsibility for missile and drone attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria.

The Israeli military has not commented on the situation.
