The Security Information Office of the Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a gang formation in the city of Benghazi, which recruited children and used them to carry out theft operations in the city.
The office stated that the Investigation Department of the General Administration of Security Operations tracked the thefts that occurred recently in several neighborhoods in the city, collected information and was able to identify those involved in these crimes by reviewing surveillance camera recordings.
Cameras showed children stealing cars from several different areas of the city.
The Security Media Office indicated that the process of arresting the gang formation began after investigation personnel were able to arrest two children who had stolen a car on Dubai Street in the city center.
During the investigations, the two children confessed to working with a gang that recruited children into robberies, after implicating them in drug and psychotropic substance abuse, filming them in offensive video clips, and blackmailing them with them.
The Security Media Office confirmed that investigation personnel were able to arrest all members of the gang, including a woman, after collecting all information and completing investigations related to the group of thefts that occurred recently in several neighborhoods in the city.

The children are trained by a woman and are then sent to carry out robberies, including her son. After completing the theft, they hand over the stolen items to the woman, who gives them their share. In addition, they were also exploited by another group of drug traffickers who filmed abusive videos of them and blackmailed them. During the investigations, the two suspects made confessions about their involvement in about 25 cases of theft.
