With the film “La Ciociara, 1960, 93′” by Vittorio De Sica, the tribute to motherhood continues, as part of the film screenings of the “Exauda” Artistic Association.


Cezira, a beautiful widow from the mountains of Tsotsaria, lives in Rome with her 12-year-old daughter Rosetta during World War II. When in 1943 the Allies begin to bomb Rome, Cesira decides to leave Rome and return to her village in order to protect her daughter from the ravages of war. So she leaves the keys and responsibility of her grocery store to her husband’s friend Giovanni and leaves for her village, Agia Efimia. Arriving there, Cezira and the rest of the villagers try to survive, while supplies are slowly running out, also decisive will be her meeting with a young idealist named Michele, who falls in love with her and tries to make her see the world with other eyes. When the allies manage to break the defenses of the Germans and the fascists, everyone is under the illusion that the war is over and Cesira and Rosetta decide to return to Rome. On the way to Rome a tragic event will forever change the relationship of the two women and they will experience the nightmare of war, which becomes a personal tragedy.
Starring Sophia Loren (Oscar for Best Actress), Jean-Paul Belmondo, Raf Vallone, Eleonora Brown.
“The Dishonored” will be screened on Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd April at the “Exauda” theater (Kountouriotou 31) starting at 8.15pm. Financial aid 2 euros.
The tribute concludes with the screening of Bong Joon-Ho’s film Mother (2009) on Sunday 28 and Monday 29 April.
