The big question in the camp of those preparing for the event all week was what the weather would be like and whether the organizers would be able to hold the event.
It started to rain in the morning, then the sun came out around nine o’clock.
This was an important factor because it was necessary to register for the cooking competition at that time, as entries had already been made earlier. The Adony és Környéke Fishing Association, the Szent Orbán Wine Order on the Danube in Adony, the Dunaújváros Sport Fishing Association, the Fishing Section of the Kisapostag Duna Sport Association and the team of László Steinmann and his friends in Adony were in the field. Fishing associations, such as the members of the Fejér County Association of Anglers (HOFESZ), took part in the competition, while the first two winners of last year’s fish juice competition in Adony (László Steinmann and the wine order) were invited to the event. Among the participants was another company from Dunaújváros, as they are perch catchers, so their team was called the Bluetails.
At the opening of the event, among others, András Cser-Palkovics, mayor of Székesfehérvár, and Attila Nagy, president of HOFESZ, greeted those present.
After that, the real work could follow, that is, the teams started preparing the food.
The president of the Dunaújváros fishermen, Rezső Somfai, said that for them this is a pre-competition at the same time: – We are participating in this competition for the first time because until now we were members of the Federation of Fishing Associations in the Lakes of Venice and on the Danube, we joined the HOFESZ a year ago.
We started with two teams, one captained by László Győri and the other by Tibor Vajda. We make them compete.
The reason for this is that on Monday, a major renovation will begin on our fishing farm, paving will be done, and then we will place candelabra on our site. Whoever performs better here can cook at the handover ceremony.
The people from Kisapostag arrived very well prepared, with beautiful cooking equipment and a very nicely decorated table. They didn’t leave anything to chance, as they also displayed diplomas and cups from previous competitions on their “stand”. In this regard, Zoltán Danó, one of the competitors from Kisapostagi, said,
this is not suggestive behavior on their part, they just placed the cups on their table as a matter of fact.
The captain of the team from Kisapostagi was none other than Mayor Attila Nagy, from whom we learned that the Danube fillet with fish soup and fish pie, with which salad and garlic dip were also prepared.
The Adonyi wine order was also made with two dishes, a fish soup and a fish tempura fresh mixed salad with a citrus vinaigrette dressing.
However, participating successfully was not at all easy, as confirmed by HOFESZ president Attila Nagy.
– Fifty-three teams entered from all over the county.
Moreover, there were also cooks from Baja who had already proven themselves in several competitions.
In the strong field, the people of Dunaújváros excelled: the Kékfarkúa, led by Mihály Török, won the best fish soup, and the team led by László Győri of the Sport Fishing Association won the third place. The people of Kisapostagi received the award for the most successful fishing association of the competition, which included a wanderer’s cup and a cash prize of HUF 100,000. We could also say that they won the composite, since they earned the award by
they had the most beautiful, cleanest cooking place in the complex, their tableware was tasteful, and there were no complaints about their food either.
This time, the people of Adony were left without a prize, which in the case of the wine order can be explained by the fact that they split into two sides on Saturday morning, as some of the “gastro members” also appeared in Dunaföldvár at the wine competition of the settlements along the Danube.
