The countdown to the festive hours of the shops for Easter 2024 has started. It is worth noting that the shops will also be open on the Sunday before Holy Week, while they will be closed for 3 consecutive days, due to the May Day holiday which was moved to on the Tuesday after Easter.
From Thursday, April 25, 2024, the festive opening hours of commercial stores in Athens officially begin, according to an announcement by the Athens Chamber of Commerce, where it is stated that the stores will be open on Sunday, April 28.
The Athens Chamber of Commerce has officially announced the proposed opening hours of the commercial stores in Athens that will be valid for the Easter holiday season and hopes that smiles will return to consumers and merchants in the markets of the whole country.
On the occasion of the announcement of the festive Easter hours, the President of the ESA, Mr. Stavros Kafounis, made the following statement:
“After ELSTAT’s documented data for the Athens Chamber of Commerce index, which records a 3% drop in the fourth quarter of 2023 for small shops operating with haplographic books and after three difficult months at the beginning of 2024, I wish and hope that this festive period to mark the beginning of the increase in shopping traffic”.

For Holy Week from Holy Monday to Holy Thursday the suggested opening hours are continuous from 9 am to 9 pm, on Good Friday from 1 pm to 7 pm, and on Holy Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm 3 in the afternoon.
