Russian border guards will be withdrawn from the Tavush region of Armenia.

As Day.Az reports with reference to the Armenian media, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in a conversation with journalists.

He noted that Russian border guards were stationed in Tavush in a different situation, but now it has changed significantly and this should be reflected in all directions.

“This means that we have a border, not a front line. And the border is a symbol of peace, and this means that the border guards of Armenia and Azerbaijan, interacting with each other, will ensure its protection,” Pashinyan said.

To an explanatory question whether his words meant the withdrawal of border guards, Pashinyan answered in the affirmative.

The Prime Minister believes that it is necessary to quickly deploy Armenian border guards in the Tavush region.

“We must carry out this process as quickly as possible. A historical event is taking place. And I do not rule out that signs “Republic of Armenia” and “Republic of Azerbaijan” will appear on the roads. We need to appreciate this,” he emphasized.
