Pardubice hockey players won 6:2 in Třinec and leveled the final series of the extra league at 2:2. However, their coach Marek Zadina came out with a long speech after the match, in which he criticized the change in the style in which the referees conduct the finals and the comments that allegedly influence the judges. “The media massage is unbelievable,” he said.
After the opening two games of the final in Pardubice, there was a lot of talk about how the Dynamo hockey players pressed in front of the goal even after the whistle and wanted to knock out the goalkeeper Ondřej Kacetl.
There have been opinions that they are exaggerating with this activity.
“What happened in the second match is over the top. It’s something else to be hard on the goalkeeper in the area in front of the goal. But this was clearly provoking Kacetl,” claimed expert and former striker Milan Antoš in the program “Focused on the play off” on the website Sport.cz.
“They have to say that it’s not like this. The referees have to send off for such things. And not that they stand up and leave it to the defenders to defend their own goalkeeper, who then tries to hide from the attack by going to the corner of the pitch,” continued Antoš, who acts as an expert also on Czech television.
Before the duels in Třinec, the head of the extraleague referees, Vladimír Pešina, sent an email to the clubs, informing them that from now on the final will be played differently. And that the referees will punish arrivals in the goal area after the whistle.
Matches three and four of the weekend looked accordingly. No exaggerated emotions in the goal area, more calm in front of Kacetl and in front of Roman Will. However, Zadin does not like this style.
“It’s hard when someone is influenced by the media,” he began. At first he spoke against Czech Television and did not want to be specific, but then he returned to the journalists to clarify his statements.
“They have a lot of space to express themselves about it, which I don’t agree with. It’s hard to fight against their opinions. It affects the hockey environment and the people who believe in them,” Zadina shook his head.
“They influence a lot of people in podcasts, on social networks, then people succumb to it. So do some officials, commissions,” added the Dynamo coach, after which he pointed out Antoš’s comment.
“He has played all his life in the goal area and now he says such things. I know that a war will break out now. He makes himself an expert in quotes, but for me he is not an expert. He tarnishes Pardubice, tarnishes our organization and tarnishes our players. He puts pressure on the referee.” Zadina claimed. “Not only Antoš,” he added.
It bothers him that based on similar comments, the finale can fall apart and lose its charge. “The limits that have been set now do not correspond to the playoffs at all. Look at the NHL, how the players follow each other. They play playoff hockey, but the series ends and they treat each other correctly,” he noted.
“I would ask people who listen to and read such comments to make up their own minds. So that they don’t succumb to the media and those people who are disgusted, don’t support Pardubice and go against Pardubice,” said Zadina.
At the same time, he explained that his criticism is not aimed at the referee. According to him, they handled both matches in Třinec excellently and eliminated correctly. It is not meant to be a criticism of Třinec, who plays his words correctly.
“I respect coach Třinec, the players and the strength of that team. But I don’t respect what is going on against Pardubice. The media massage is unreal,” said the former striker, who worked in both of these clubs during his playing career.
Třinec coach Zdeněk Moták looked surprised during Zadin’s long monologue at the press conference.
“I don’t watch it. I don’t know. I don’t care more or less what anyone says. I care about our team to prepare for every game. I don’t know what it’s about,” he responded to the words about the media massage.
“I will join Mark in that what the referees saw, they whistled. If there are extra interventions that do not belong in hockey and that we don’t want to be in hockey, then they will whistle and cheers,” added the Třinec coach.
His team lost the lead for the second time in the series, and Wednesday’s sixth game will decide who will be the first to win the title match point for their side. The game will be played in Pardubice from 6 p.m.
