The United States Coast Guard announced, on Friday, the repatriation to the island of a group made up of 19 Cuban rafters.

In its report, the federal agency specified that it was the crew of the Coast Guard cutter William Trump that was in charge of carrying out this operation.

Likewise, they mentioned that the Cuban rafters were detained after an interdiction in the Florida Keys a week ago.

“The crew of a customs and border protection aircraft notified Key West sector observers of an alleged migrant trip at approximately 12 pm on Saturday.”reads the statement.

In this sense, the Coast Guard authorities confirmed their presence both by air and by sea, with the intention of detecting those people who seek to enter the United States territory illegally.

“Immigrants who attempt to enter the United States illegally by sea will be indefinitely disqualified from the legal immigration parole policy for Cubans and Haitians”said Lt. Peter Hutchison, of the Coast Guard’s Seventh District Enforcement Division.

Although the warnings do not stop, the desperate inhabitants of the largest of the Antilles continue to embark on the dangerous journey with the main purpose of achieving freedom, that which was stolen for more than 60 years.

Using homemade boats, Cubans jump into the water in the hope not only of finding that better life, but also of helping the relatives left hostage by the Castro regime.

Proof of this is that, so far in fiscal year 2024 – which began on October 1 of last year – the Coast Guard has already repatriated 367 Cuban rafters.
