Until April 28th, the performances of Jean Genet’s play “The Slaves” will continue, which will be staged at the Camperio Theater from the Central Stage of DI.PE.THE. Ioannina, directed by Yiannis Kontou.

It is a one-act theatrical drama, which explores the relations between ruler and ruled, regarding the social roles of people.
A 20th century play, in which we follow an afternoon in the life of Claire and Solange, the Lady’s servants. Whenever she is away, the two of them, within the narrow confines of the Lady’s house, play a game trying to free themselves from the life that is suffocating them. Genet’s work, a modern tragedy written in the 60s, is based on the true story of the Papin brothers, who shocked France in the 30s.
Aphrodite Athanasiadou, Kika Zachariadou and Yiannis Kontos are on stage. The scenography and costumes are by Ioanna Lisgara, the original music by Vassilis Lagdas and the lighting by Orestis Tatsis.
The 100-minute show airs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 9pm, and every Sunday at 8pm, with the Sunday show accompanied by audio description for the visually impaired and surtitles for the visually impaired hearing.
This Sunday’s performance will be followed by an open discussion between all its contributors with the assistant professor of Evolutionary Psychology at the Department of Psychology of the University of Ioannina Stathis Papastathopoulos, as well as the public who wishes to participate.
