To celebrate Earth Day on April 22, Tokyo Electron Korea invited children from underprivileged classes to Seoul Land and provided education on the global environment.

Tokyo Electron Korea, a semiconductor equipment company, announced on the 22nd that it conducted global environment education for children from vulnerable groups to celebrate Earth Day (April 22).

Tokyo Electron’s global environment education was held at Seoul Land in Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 20th in cooperation with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation. About 150 people, including children and teachers from 18 underprivileged child care facilities in Gyeonggi Province, attended the training. About 30 executives and employees participated as volunteers to assist with educational events and help children move safely.

The educational topic was prepared as ‘Dinosaurs’ to stimulate children’s interest. The education was handled by Lee Jeong-mo, director of the Penguin Science Museum, who served as director of the Gwacheon National Science Museum and is famous among children for his ‘hairy science’. Director Lee addressed children’s questions about dinosaurs in a friendly way and explained the causes of dinosaur extinction in an easy-to-understand manner, emphasizing the importance of changes in the global environment. After the lecture, the children who participated in the training had a great time touring the dinosaur experience center in Seoul Land where dinosaur models were displayed and directly experiencing the dinosaur fossil excavation program. Afterwards, I also had time to use other facilities within Seoul Land. Tokyo Electron Korea provided an all-day pass to Seoul Land, lunch, a transfer bus, and souvenirs for this training.

This educational event was prepared as part of Tokyo Electron’s own social contribution brand, ‘TEL FOR GOOD’. This activity focuses on practicing the detailed items ‘preservation of the global environment’ and ‘creating joint value with the local community.’

An official from Tokyo Electron Korea said, “We planned this education to foster the importance of the environment in an interesting and enjoyable way by linking education that can be boring to children with various experiences and cultural facilities within Seoul Land.” He added, “We will continue to provide education to children and students from vulnerable groups in the future. “We will continue to provide various activities and support,” he said.

Tokyo Electron Korea has launched a social contribution brand and is continuing its multifaceted efforts to strengthen ESG (environment, society, governance) and fulfill corporate social responsibility.
