Two people died in the attack that occurred on the morning of this Thursday, April 18, at the Medellín Clinic. On the one hand, the authorities confirmed the discovery of the attacker’s body inside the bathroom of the office where the man set fire, and where he also shot the urologist Juan Guillermo Aristizábal, who also died at the scene.

Regarding the murdered doctor, it is known that he had more than 20 years of experience, he liked music and played drums in a band he had with friends, and he had recently managed to overcome cancer against which he had to battle for a long time. . In addition to this, Aristizábal had a close relationship with the CES University, where in addition to completing his undergraduate degree in medicine, he specialized in urology and taught classes in neurology and semiology. In addition to this, one of his two children is also studying at the institution.
“He had been working as a specialist in this clinic for 25 years and was an excellent person, a great friend. “It is a fact that has us all dismayed,” an anesthesiologist from the clinic told El Colombiano, who indicated that on Thursday morning, Aristizábal performed medical interventions and then went to his office, where he was reviewing the medical records of some of his patients when the crime occurred.

Those close to the doctor indicated that he was recognized both for his professionalism and for being a good person. Diego Sánchez highlighted on Telemedellín that Aristizábal “was a brilliant doctor, a wonderful person, a man dedicated to his family.”
For its part, the CES clinic regretted the crime and stated in a statement that: “we extend to his wife María Isabel Trujillo and his children Paulina and Miguel, to his loved ones, colleagues at the Faculty of Medicine and to his colleagues our deepest condolences and a fraternal hug in this difficult moment.”
