A solemn event was held in the Concert Hall named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli, organized by the Union of Composers of the Republic in connection with the 100th anniversary of the birth of the famous composer, conductor, teacher, public figure, People’s Artist of the Republic, laureate of the State Prize, holder of the Order of “Shohret”, Professor Suleiman Aleskerov , Day.Az reported on Thursday.
The event was opened with an opening speech by the Chairman of the Union of Composers, People’s Artist, Corresponding Member of ANAS, Professor Frangiz Alizadeh. She noted that “in accordance with the order of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the composer Suleyman Alesgarov, various events dedicated to his life and work are being held at the concert venues of the republic, works that are especially loved by performers and listeners are performed – fragments from musical comedies, compositions for Azerbaijani folk instruments, romances, songs. Suleyman Aleskerov was an active member of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan for many years, and served on its Board. I would especially like to emphasize the fact that, being from Shusha, S. Aleskerov was the first Chairman of the Shusha branch of the Union of Composers. which he headed until the end of his life. Through his activities in this position, he made a significant contribution to the development of the musical life of this region.”
The evening in memory of the composer continued with a bright performance by the Honored Artist of the Republic Ramil Gasimov, who performed S. Aleskerov’s widely popular song “Qarabağ”. Then a documentary television film “Xəyala dalarkən” was shown, dedicated to the main stages of the life and work of the hero of the day.
Famous figures of musical art performed at the event. People’s Artist of the Republic, Professor Agaverdi Pashayev spoke about the role of S. Aleskerov in the history of the orchestra of Azerbaijani folk instruments. Honored Artist, Director of the Baku College of Music Nazim Kazimov shared his memories of the talented composer and teacher. Honored Artist, Director of the Ganja State Philharmonic named after. F. Amirova Ramil Gasimov dedicated his performance to the composer’s musical comedies. Doctor of Art History, Associate Professor Leila Zohrabova spoke about the pedagogical activities of S. Aleskerov. Deputy Head of the Shusha District Executive Power Vusalya Fataliyeva focused on the role of S. Aleskerov in organizing the Shusha branch of the Azerbaijan Composers Union.
In the musical part of the evening, popular works of the jubilee were performed: the songs “Qarabağ” and “Gözəl Şuşa”, the concert piece “Daimi şiğım” for tara and piano, the composition “Şalaxo” for the ensemble of female canonists, compositions for violin and piano. Honored artists of the republic Ramil Gasimov (vocals), Zulfia Sadygova (piano), laureate of the international competition Behruz Zeynal (string), Ibrahim Guliyev (vocals), Gurban Nasirli (violin), an ensemble of canonists led by Honored Artist Tarana Aliyeva took part in their performance. pianists Rena Zakieva and Aityan Javadova, as well as a student of the Children’s Music School named after S. Aleskerov.
The evening in memory of the remarkable composer, who left a noticeable mark in the history of the Azerbaijani school of composition, whose works enriched the national musical culture, was held in a warm and solemn atmosphere.
