The city is overcoming the crisis of population extinction by attracting blue-chip companies through the creation of various industrial complexes and business-centered administrative support, and by solidifying its position as a new industrial city in the central inland region by providing quality jobs.

About 100 days before the 2024 Paris Olympics, Chungju City announced that it held the Paris Olympics Asia & Oceania regional preliminaries and the Asian Cup rowing competition at the Tangeumho International Rowing Stadium from the 19th to the 21st.
According to the city, about 400 people from 30 countries visited Chungju during the competition.
