Speaking at a press conference dedicated to SIAM, Mr. Sadiki indicated that this edition will be an opportunity to learn about efforts to adapt to climate change, as well as actions linked to agricultural sectors, chains of distribution, quality, innovation, preservation of natural resources and strengthening the resilience of the sector.
Placed under the theme “Climate and Agriculture: For sustainable and resilient production systems”, this 16th edition resonates deeply with the current context, marked by a climate crisis characterized in particular by high temperatures and a reduction in water resources, which calls for the urgency of promoting resilient and sustainable agricultural systems, he noted.
And to continue that SIAM 2024, which also aims to be a meeting for exchange and awareness around the chosen theme, will highlight the agricultural ecosystem, agricultural strategy, innovations in the sector, technologies and good practices for more resilient, more sustainable and more environmentally friendly agriculture.
At the same time, the minister underlined the relevance of the choice of Spain as the country of honor for SIAM 2024, which reflects the desire of this country to invest in innovative agricultural projects in favor of more intelligent use of resources, particularly water.
In this sense, he highlighted the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries, illustrated by the signing of several cooperation agreements in various fields, including agriculture, water resources and the environment.
Returning to the specificities of the Show this year, Mr. Sadiki said that he will organize a series of conferences and meetings, including the ministerial meeting of the “AAA” Initiative and the regional Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for Africa in Morocco.
This edition will also be marked by the organization of the Grand Prix National de la Presse Agricole et Rurale which aims to reward journalistic excellence in the field of agriculture and rural development, he maintained.
Organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, this annual meeting is now among the largest events dedicated to agriculture on the continent. The area occupied this year is increased to 12.4 hectares, including 11 hectares covered, an increase of 13% compared to the previous edition.
SIAM 2024 is committed, through its exhibitors, conferences and events, to raising awareness of the issue of climate change, as it aims to provide a platform to institutions working on the development of adapted and resilient agricultural technologies and solutions, by putting them directly in contact with all players in the sector.
