Projects for nearly BGN 40 million have been launched to improve the material base in the student dormitories of Varna higher schools. This was announced by the Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov during his visit to the city today. He visited the Economic and Technical University in Varna and talked with their management about the problems and challenges they face, the ministry’s press center reported.

Teachers from the region are to undergo training on the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process. This became clear during the meeting of Minister Tsokov with the rector of the University of Economics – Varna, Prof. Dr. Evgeni Stanimirov. Both teachers and representatives of the ICT Cluster – Varna participated in it.

The higher school has created a Center for the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process and is working to develop student programs in this direction. At the moment, 25 doctoral students work there, who also receive methodological support from professors from the USA. “Artificial intelligence can completely change the education system, because it is possible that the focus will no longer be on finding the right answers, but on the ability to ask the right questions,” emphasized Minister Tsokov. He also presented the guidelines for digitization and the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process, which the Ministry of Education and Science developed in the last month. “The relationship between the school and the university is very important, but it will be maximally effective when the business also participates in it”, emphasized Prof. Tsokov, who also discussed possible changes in professional training with representatives of ICT Cluster Varna.

“60 years is only the beginning, you confidently look to the future”, wrote Minister Tsokov in the book of Technical University – Varna. He spoke with the rector Prof. Dr. Dragomir Plamenov and teachers from the higher school, which celebrated its 60th anniversary this year. Among the topics discussed were the good results achieved by the Professional High School of Engineering, Technology and Computer Science at the Technical University. The minister also visited the Maritime Qualification Center at the university, where students acquire practical skills. “Here we see in practice the future of education, which is happening in so many places in our educational institutions, forming specific skills for the success of their graduates”, emphasized Prof. Tsokov.
