Kim Joo-hyung (22) will compete on the same team as the ‘golf emperor’ Tiger Woods (49, USA) in the TGL Screen Golf League, which will be launched in January next year. TGL announced on the 23rd that “Kim Joo-hyung, Max Homa (34), and Kevin Kisner (40, USA) have joined Woods’ team ‘Jupiter Links Golf Club’.” Woods is the co-founder of TMRW Sports, which hosts TGL. Rory McIlroy (35, Northern Ireland), ranked second in the men’s golf world, is also one of the co-founders and will also participate in TGL as a team.

Kim Joo-hyung, who was introduced by TGL as a ‘rising star’ in the golf world, said, “I grew up receiving a lot of inspiration from Woods. Since I was young, I have watched countless videos of Woods playing. I am so happy to be able to play on the same team as my idol. “Woods is a player you can learn a lot from just by watching him from the sidelines,” he said.

Kim Joo-hyung achieved his third win at the PGA Tour’s Shriners Children’s Open in October last year at the second-youngest age in history (21 years and 3 months), following Woods (21 years old). Previously, in December 2022, he was invited to the Hero World Challenge, an event competition hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation.

Woods said of Kim Joo-hyung, “He is a player with great skills. “I think he is one of the players who is underrated compared to his skills.” Woods also mentioned that Kim Joo-hyung participated in the 2022 Presidents Cup (a team competition between international teams excluding Europe and the U.S. team) and said, “He was there whenever the team needed him.”

TGL will feature 24 top PGA Tour players, including Colin Morikawa (27, Justin Thomas (31), Keegan Bradley (38, USA), and Adam Scott (44, Australia). Six teams of four people compete against each other in a 15-hole match. The stadium is the SoFi Center, the size of a soccer field, located at Palm Beach State University in Florida, USA. The game is divided into a screen zone where shots are played on the simulator screen and a green zone where short games and putts are played.
