This visit is part of the implementation of the roadmap, adopted in April 2022, following the audience that His Majesty King Mohammed VI granted to Mr. Sanchez, explained Mr. Guennoun in a statement to the MAP, noting that the latter includes a set of cooperation provisions in several areas, particularly in terms of trade, the economy and the fight against crime and irregular immigration.
The political analyst indicated, in this sense, that “Spain objectively considers Morocco as a fluid, secure and flexible gateway for investments to Africa”, thanks to the strategic position of the Kingdom, as well as its commitment to numerous initiatives, notably the Moroccan initiative for the Atlantic, the Morocco-Nigeria Gas Pipeline project, the port of Dakhla Atlantique and the Tanger Med port.
Mr. Guennoun noted that this visit also comes within the framework of the high-level meeting (RHN) between Morocco and Spain, held in 2023, which concluded with a declaration emphasizing the commitment of the two Kingdoms to further consolidate relations, avoid disputes in all circumstances and exchange visits from senior Spanish government officials.

This visit is a continuation of the new phase of bilateral relations, which began since Mr. Sanchez’s visit in April 2022, also marked by the adoption of the Joint Declaration between the two countries.
