Kia (000270) will participate in ‘2024 Auto China’ (Beijing Motor Show), China’s largest motor show, and announce electrification technology to target the Chinese market.
Kia will participate in the ‘2024 Auto China’ (Beijing Motor Show) held at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing from the 25th to the 4th of next month (local time) under the theme of ‘Transition to Smart Mobility’.
At the press conference on the opening day, Kia introduced the ‘EV5 Long Range Model’, a compact electric SUV (sports utility vehicle), through a musical-style showcase that told the story of customers’ vehicle purchasing journey. EV5 is the first electric vehicle platform model produced locally in China.
EV5 applies the electric vehicle-specific platform ‘E-GMP’ and consists of three models, including standard 2WD and long range 2WD and AWD. The long-range 2WD model is equipped with an 88.1kWh battery, securing the highest driving range on a single charge in its class of 720km based on China’s CLTC.
The EV5 is equipped with a driver’s seat relaxation seat with a massage function, a built-in cooler and heater in the console, and a luggage multi-table function. Smart functions such as HDA2 (Highway Driving Assist 2), which supports semi-automatic lane changes, RSPA2 (Remote Smart Parking Assist 2), which supports automatic parking in various environments, and Digital Key 2 were also applied.
In addition, Kia strengthened its SUV lineup by unveiling ‘Sonet’, a global entry SUV model, to respond to the Chinese automobile market where price competition is intensifying. The Sonet is equipped with a smart driving system, allowing for comfortable driving.
Kia organized an exhibition hall at Auto China with the concept of ‘Change to EV Brand’. In the EV zone within the booth, you can take a look at Kia’s core electric vehicles, including the EV5·EV6 and the EV6 GT equipped with a level 4 autonomous driving solution. In the EV Life Experience Zone, you can experience Kia’s advanced electrification technology, including the next-generation function-integrated wheel drive system.
A Kia official said, “We will continue to strive for customer satisfaction by introducing competitive vehicles tailored to customer needs in the rapidly changing Chinese automobile market.”
