/ Today, Tuesday, the Iraqi youth team under 20 years old will meet the Jordanian Olympic team to determine the winner of fifth and sixth places in the fifth West Asian Federation Championship for teams under 23 years old.
The match will take place at Prince Abdullah bin Jalawi Stadium in Al-Ahsa, Saudi Arabia, at exactly eleven o’clock in the evening, Baghdad time, today, Tuesday.
The players of the Iraqi youth team under the age of 20 conducted the last training unit late yesterday evening, Monday, in preparation for today’s match against the Jordanian Olympic team.
The Iraqi youth team was able to achieve victory over the UAE Olympic team in the match to determine the positions, last Saturday, on penalties, with a score of 4-3, after regular time ended in a positive draw 1-1.
The Iraqi youth team failed to reach the semi-finals of the tournament after losing to the Australian team 1-2 at the start of the tournament.
The 2024 West Asian Federation Cup Championship was launched in the Saudi city of Al-Ahsa on March 20, with the participation of 8 teams: Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the Emirates from the West Asia region in the tournament, while the West Asia Federation sent invitations to a number of teams outside the region to participate as guests in the tournament. The most prominent tournament is Egypt, South Korea, Thailand, and Australia.
