This Monday morning, the delegation of the youth athletics team left the capital, Baghdad, heading to Dubai to participate in the Asian Youth Championship, which will be held from the twenty-third to the twenty-seventh of this month, with the participation of 37 countries.
A statement by the Game Federation, received by the (INA), stated that “the delegation consisted of a member of the Federation’s Board of Directors, Saif Raad Al-Obaidi, as president, Abdel-Amir Hussein, administrator of the delegation, Muhammad Abdel-Wahid, therapist, and three coaches, Mohsen Hizam, Sharaf Al-Din Talib, and Shamam Samad, and five players, Mustafa Mohsen Hizam.” Zain Al-Abidine Mokhles, Yahya Ibrahim, Abbas Odeh, Abdel Wahid Alaa El-Din, and four female players: Derine Bakhtiar, Narges Hussein, Raneen Ahmed, and Bint Al-Huda Ibrahim.”
The statement quoted the head of the delegation as saying: “The team will stay at the Athletics Hotel in Dubai, and the players will undergo an evening training unit after arriving in Dubai,” pointing out that “the technical and administrative staff will attend the technical conference for the tournament this evening.”
Al-Obaidi explained, “The tournament will witness the participation of a number of continental champions in various events. We hope that our players will achieve distinguished results. We aspire to achieve medals despite the strong competition, but we have confidence in the team’s capabilities.”
Al-Obaidi continued, “Al-Ittihad sent three players, Yahya Ibrahim, Mustafa Mohsen, and Zain Al-Abidin Mukhles, under the supervision of coach Mohsen Hizam, to a training camp in Dubai that lasted for four weeks in preparation for the tournament. We hope that our players have benefited from the camp to achieve outstanding results.”
