The EU will get its own structure to coordinate the fight against money laundering, said MEP Emil Radev, BTA reports.

“For the first time at the European level, there will be a structure to coordinate all policies in the fight against money laundering,” he said.

Radev is the rapporteur on the European Anti-Money Laundering Agency regulation, which will be voted on later today.

“There will be much greater surveillance of banks, financial institutions, casinos, but also estate agencies, luxury retailers, professional football clubs, so that many areas can be covered that are suspected of money is laundered in large volumes,” the MEP also commented.

Emil Radev points out that within five years there will be real results from the implementation of these rules.

The deputy defines the expiring mandate of the European Parliament as difficult and full of crises. The upcoming elections will also be difficult, according to Radev.

“I think that the pro-European forces here in the parliament will once again be able to form a majority and implement policies that are in favor of the EU,” he also commented.

The “2 in 1” elections will largely shift the European theme. However, it is very important what and how many quality MEPs Bulgaria will produce, he points out.

“Let them cast their vote, let them make their assessment of who will be useful for Bulgaria here in the European institutions,” he said on the occasion of voting in the upcoming European elections.
