“Nevertheless, it seems to me that she is not a politician, in the broadest sense of the word, and sometimes she does not make decisions that a politician should make,” G. Nausėda told “Žinių Radio” on Wednesday.
While evaluating his work, the head of the country admitted that the mistake could have been the omission that he once belonged to the Communist Party.
“Well, that was not telling the whole truth, sometimes not telling the whole truth is a mistake too,” he mused.
As previously announced, G. Nausėda – unlike his predecessor, the outgoing President Dalia Grybauskaitė – did not indicate in his questionnaire to the Central Election Commission (CEC) in 2019 that he once belonged to the Communist Party, although in the election questionnaires of the CEC each candidate is asked whether they participate or are former members of any political organization.
When running for a second term, the country’s leader provided such information in the questionnaire.
While thinking about the mistakes, G. Nausėda also remembered the decision to visit his daughter in South Korea made at the beginning of the term.
“It was a mistake to go to South Korea to visit my daughter after visiting Japan,” he said.
Still in 2019 After this visit, the president, who attended the enthronement ceremony of Emperor Naruhito in Japan, went to South Korea to visit his daughter together with the first lady, Diana Nausėdiene. At that time, such an action was viewed with skepticism in society.
ELTA reminds that the Lithuanian presidential elections will be held on May 12, 2024.
