Morocco and Spain are constantly working to strengthen their exemplary (academic) strategic partnership
Madrid – The working visit of the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, to the Kingdom, the first since his inauguration, demonstrates that Morocco and Spain are constantly working to strengthen their exemplary strategic partnership, affirmed the professor at the Complutense University of Madrid, Mohamed Dahiri.
The ties between Morocco and Spain, which have developed at all levels, are “at the best moment in their history”, as evidenced by the successive visits of senior officials from both sides, underlined the academic in a statement to MAP, emphasizing the importance of this trip for strengthening “close collaboration between the two countries in different fields”.
The audience granted by HM King Mohammed VI to the President of the Spanish Government was an opportunity to reiterate Spain’s position, contained in the joint declaration of April 2022, considering the Moroccan Autonomy Initiative as “the most serious, realistic and credible basis” for the settlement of the conflict around the Moroccan Sahara, he noted.
After emphasizing that economic and trade relations between the two countries have experienced sustained development in recent years, with record trade figures, Mr. Dahiri estimated that bilateral economic issues are a priority for both parties.
The visit carried out by Mr. Sanchez to Morocco is part of the continuity of the new phase of bilateral relations, begun since the meeting between His Majesty the King and the president of the Spanish executive, in April 2022, and the adoption, on this occasion, of the Joint Declaration between the two countries.
