Exam changes for over 60,700 seventh graders this year. The aim is to relieve them at this very stressful and responsible time in their lives.
The dates for the Bulgarian language and mathematics tests have been pushed back in time to give students more time to prepare. The first module for both exams has been increased in duration, the math tasks have been eased and if a child becomes seriously ill, they can appear on another date.
This year, the exam in Bulgarian language and literature will be on June 19, and in mathematics – on June 21. Or a week later than last. It was done so that the seventh graders could prepare better, writes BNT.
The time to solve the first module of the tests was increased from 60 to 75 minutes.
“The first module, which is actually more general, needs a little more time for the children to finish their answers, to put what they have answered on the draft,” said Galin Tsokov, Minister of Education and Science.
In mathematics, two of the tasks that were open-ended became multiple-choice. It was done because frequent technical errors are made when solving the open problems.
“There will be an opportunity for a second date, on which to appear for children who, for reasons related to illness, hospital stay, quarantine, were unable to appear for the first,” said Galin Tsokov, Minister of Education and Science.
Applications for a second date will be submitted by July 8. The minister will determine when she will be. There are no changes in the number of tasks in both subjects. The exams are from 9.00 a.m. and this year they are separated from the National External Assessment of the 10th grade. It was done to ease the organization and to have more time to check the works of seventh graders.
