In Argentina, an event was recorded that has moved the community of Resistencia, Chaco, after a 20-year-old gave birth in a car dealership bathroom and abandoned her newborn baby in a drawer in the establishment.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 p.m. this Wednesday at a dealership located on 2252 25 de Mayo Avenue, according to the owner of the premises reported to Diario Chaco.
The young woman, accompanied by her father and an auntboth natives of Santa Fe, had arrived at the store with the intention of buying a vehicle.
After selecting and paying for one of the cars, the woman asked to use the bathroom, at which point she went into labor.
After giving birth, she chose to leave the baby in a drawer used to store items in the bathroom..
Employees of the premises quickly discovered the newborn and alerted the police, holding up the family who were trying to leave in the newly acquired vehicle.
Officers from the Tenth Police Station, including Inspector Commissioner Mauro Javier Cáceres, arrived at the scene.
Cáceres performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) maneuvers on the baby, who was initially believed to be lifeless, and was later transferred to the Perrando Hospital to receive urgent medical attention.
In the hospital, the Doctors determined that the child is extremely premature and was admitted to the neonatal unit for specialized care and additional studies.
The mother, after suffering postpartum decompensation, was admitted to the Gynecology Service of the same hospital.
Although she initially denied being the baby’s mother, subsequent investigations confirmed her motherhood..
The intervening Prosecutor’s Office took action on the matter, ordering that the released woman be notified while the circumstances of the case are investigated, including the reasons behind her decision to abandon the baby and the possible role of her father in the incident.
Authorities also seized the clothing the woman was wearing as part of the investigation.
