HERZOGENAURACH. From 3000 meters on the track to the marathon: seven Italian records for Yeman Crippafrom today also that of 10 km on the road. In Germania, a Herzogenaurachthe blue completes its own collection of national records with the piece that was missing: with the chrono of 27:08 comes close to the European record of the Frenchman Jimmy Gressier (27:07 on 17 March), missed by just one second, and demolishes the previous Italian record which belonged to Pietro Riva and Yohanes Chiappinelli since 2022 (27:50), signing an advance of 42 seconds on the previous limit and 55 seconds on the personal best he achieved in Bolzano on the last day of last year.
From today, therefore, the Trentino Fiamme Oro simultaneously holds the Italian records of 3000, 5000, 10,000, 5km, 10km, half marathon and marathon. A nice CV for someone who will show up at the European Championships in Rome on 9 June with ambitions in the middle (and on 12 June he could decide to go in search of confirmation in the 10,000m after the 2022 title) and who in February achieved a 2h06:06 in marathon which projects him with optimism towards the Paris Olympics.
In the context of the Adizero Road To Records, where he already set the 5 km record two seasons ago (also a European record at the time), Crippa travels together with the best for the entire race, returning from a month of training at altitude in Ifrane (Morocco ).
After the first five kilometers the ‘melee’ begins, decided by the final attack of the Kenyan Nicholas Kipkorir (27:04) who leads his compatriot Sabastian Sawe (27:06) and the representative of Burundi Rodrigue Kwizera (27:07). . Crippa loses a handful of seconds but is always there, lucid, present, glued to prestigious rivals.
In addition to completing the series of outdoor records (he also boasts a record in the unusual indoor distance of 5000m), the athlete trained by Massimo Pegoretti also does better than the personal best in the 10,000m on the track which dates back to five seasons ago on the occasion of the eighth place at the Doha World Championships with 27:10.76.
And next Sunday in Monza, again in the 10 km, he can continue his journey towards Rome and Paris.
