A letter, WhatsApp conversations and testimony from a key witness are the evidence that incriminates Margarita Bascuñán’s husband.
The trial against the only accused in the case of Margarita Bascuñán continued this Tuesday.
Fabián Romero, Bascuñán’s partner at the time, is accused of the crime of doubly qualified homicide due to bond and gender violence (femicide), for which he risks life imprisonment.
The incident for which he is accused occurred on April 13, 2022, when the accused took Margarita Bascuñán to the Córdoba Emergency Hospital arguing that she had had an accident. The woman had a blow to the head and another to the jaw, for which she suffered brain death and was disconnected the next day.
Hospital officials saw that the woman showed signs that she had been beaten and filed a complaint, which ended with Romero’s arrest.
The defense of the accused
