(ANSA) – PESCARA, APR 27 – “Enel has invested in photovoltaic panels made in Italy and with a high rate of technological innovation, produced in our 3Sun Gigafactory in Catania.
These are bifacial panels with a newly developed silicon polymer that gives a 20-30% higher performance than other panels on the market. In this area, the work done by the Government and by Minister Urso is fundamental, placing product quality at the center as a key condition for accessing the incentives”. This was said this afternoon in Pescara by Enel’s CEO, Flavio Cattaneo, participating at the panel on “The challenge of technological independence” on the second day of the Fratelli d’Italia programmatic conference. “In this way, Urso – added Cattaneo – has remedied the distortions of recent years, when incentives were given directly to the consumer. . This mechanism induced the consumer to choose the panel that cost the least, i.e. the Chinese one. But the Chinese panel costs less certainly not because we Europeans are less skilled, but because it is based on inferior technology and benefits from state aid.
So the European incentives effectively financed Chinese state aid while we as a European industry could not have any support.”
“Recently there have been several meetings, promoted by Minister Urso himself, which have seen not only Italy, but also France and Germany take note of the need to reward the quality product, i.e. the European product.
Because we as Europeans have always won in all manufacturing sectors thanks to quality. Therefore, linking the incentive to quality – he concluded – helps to reduce technological dependence on foreign countries”. (ANSA).
