IMO Assembly: Series of talks with Mr. Abdeljalil in London

Thus, Mr. Abdeljalil discussed with the Korean Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, Cho Seung-Hwan, ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of maritime transport, particularly with regard to the sustainability of the sector and its digitalization.

During a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, the Moroccan official focused on the development of the technical cooperation framework between the two countries in the port and maritime domain, as well as the experience of regionalization of port management.

Mr. Abdeljalil also spoke with the Minister of Transport and Aviation of Sierra Leone, Alhaji Fanday Turay, who praised the excellent relations between the two countries, expressing his country’s desire to develop cooperation with Morocco in the field of air and maritime transport.

On the occasion of a meeting focused on the Moroccan-Congolese partnership, the Congolese Minister of Transport, Civil Aviation and Merchant Marine, Honoré Sayi, welcomed, for his part, the bilateral cooperation in the air and maritime sectors, as well as the work of the joint commission of the two countries in the areas of road transport and road safety.

In the company of the Moroccan Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Hakim Hajoui, Mr. Abdeljalil also had a meeting with the Secretary General of the IMO, Kitack Lim, which was an opportunity to review the active participation of the Kingdom within the organs of the Organization and its willingness to invest more in multilateral cooperation.

Furthermore, Mr. Abdeljalil recalled that the IMO plays a crucial role in ensuring the development of a maritime industry that is both commercially profitable and respectful of safety and security conditions.

The organization works to resolve problems linked to global warming and the challenges of digitalization and autonomous ships, he added, recalling that Morocco has been a member of the executive body of the IMO for several years, and This Assembly is the ideal opportunity to reaffirm the Kingdom’s commitment to developing an environmentally friendly maritime sector.

Morocco is participating in the 33rd session of the IMO Assembly, which continues until December 6, with a high-level delegation led by the Minister of Transport and Logistics, and composed of officials from the ministry and public establishments and companies operating in the maritime transport sector.
