As part of the joint project of the Baku Society of Contemporary Music and the Museum Center “Musical Evenings at the Museum”, a concert by Humay Gasimzade (piano) and Gleb Khokhlov (cello) will be held on April 27 at 19:00, Day.Az reports. Free admission.
The musicians will perform works by outstanding composers of contemporary music: “Spring of Chosroes” by Morton Feldman, “Anthemes” by Pierre Boulez, Sonata by Galina Ustvolskaya and “Five Meditations on Music from the Collection of Luigi Rossi” by Reiko Futing.
Humay Gasimzadeh graduated from the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli (piano class of Professor Adili Vakilova), then received a master’s degree in the Norwegian city of Bergen, a master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music (New York) and a doctorate from Bowling Green State University (Ohio). Participant in many festivals and winner of a number of international competitions. Her doctoral dissertation was selected as the best dissertation of the year, and an album consisting of solo piano works by Azerbaijani composers was selected and released by the famous American record company “Innova”. Gasimzadeh currently works at the Cadenza Contemporary Orchestra as a pianist.
Gleb Khokhlov received a musical education, specializing in violin, and since 2016 he has specialized in performing contemporary music. He graduated with honors from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (faculty of ancient and modern performing arts), then entered an assistantship-internship in the direction of “Orchestra of Contemporary Music”. On his initiative, the contemporary music ensemble Vacuum Quartet was created in 2017. In the last concert season, as part of the “Cadenza Invites” project, he performed in Baku with a master class and concert program, and also became part of the 1st Baku Contemporary Music Days festival, organized by the Baku Society of Contemporary Music.
