Being able to make a difference in a society is a privilege. This was stated by the mayor of Sofia, Vasil Terziev, on his Facebook profile.
“With friends and like-minded people, we shared our success stories, education and lessons learned at the first SofiaTalks Business business conference for school and university students. We had the responsible task of inspiring hundreds of children not to give up chasing their dreams, to follow their professional path anywhere in the world , but to always return here – to Bulgaria, to give what they have learned to others. This is what I am teaching my children too,” explained the mayor.
According to him, any change is difficult and he hopes that they will choose the difficult but responsible path to work for the good of Bulgaria. “We talked about the important things that I have learned from the moment when my friends and I started building a company, I went through the world of entrepreneurship and reached my current job as the mayor of Sofia,” he explained.
“My first advice to them was not to take themselves too seriously, but to be serious about what they choose to do in life. At any moment when you believe in yourself, there are circumstances that bring you down. So we have to keep our sense too for humor and a positive attitude, which always help in the challenges along the way,” said Terziev.
“I assured the young people in the room, who had come from various schools and universities in Bulgaria, that I have no doubts that they will all be very successful. Everyone in whatever they choose to do. But they should know that every success is the result of a lot of effort and it will be difficult. Not a single success is completely accidental. It is difficult to succeed alone, so it is important to surround ourselves with good people, to keep our friendships and build on them,” said Terziev.
“One of the other important lessons I shared is that the responsibility to society becomes greater as we gain success. We should not avoid the battles, but pull up all those who do not have our knowledge, capabilities and understanding of the world .We will become a better society when each of us has higher requirements for ourselves and starts helping others to get closer to his level. I believe that together, as a team, we must change society towards better,” explained the mayor.
According to him, the role of successful people is not to stand back when they achieve success, to enjoy it. It is then that responsibilities and struggle begin to have a positive impact on others. “To be able to ignite other people, to help them achieve personal success and understand how important it is to give back to society,” he said.
“Thank you for the invitation to be a part of this inspiring event. I wish the children success and be responsible when they achieve it.”
“With so many awake children, Bulgaria cannot be a bright place,” added Terziev.
