Jenny Balatsinou first mentioned the conference “I’m here for you”, which is about women in all their aspects and will feature great speakers on various topics.
“All proceeds from the event will go to support women affected by storm Daniel in Thessaly,” he said.
“Times change with great speed and require the woman to wear more “hats”, to juggle between what she wants and what she can do. The working environment has not evolved evenly over the years, from the wage gap to the stereotypes that prevail in a workplace.”
I have been working since I was 18, I have changed many careers
“I’ve reinvented myself many times, experimented in many different areas. The hardest thing for me was selling, when I had the cosmetics company and I had to sell a product, I felt ashamed, I hid. I can easily sell for others, but I still feel that by selling something of myself, maybe I’m somehow making fun of the other person.”
Jenny Balatsinou revealed that she always felt guilty about saying that she is doing something well, while she likes humble people who are not driven by “appearances”.
Her children
“They played an important role and gave me strength, unbeknownst to my children. The fact that I need to succeed for the children is an incredibly powerful weapon. When you are not alone and have three children in charge and things change violently in your life, the survival mechanisms of the jungle are developed.
When you have children you are forced to take risks, to learn quickly, this is very difficult and involves fear of the unknown. I’m grateful because through the difficulties I learned a lot about myself, I discovered possibilities that I didn’t think existed.”
Motherhood and the 4th child
She stated that she feels blessed to have become a mother again at an old age.
“Becoming a mother again at an old age and after three children was something I never imagined, nor was it planned. With the fourth child, Panagiotis, at the beginning I was worried about whether I would be given with all my senses in this new situation. I did not expect that the feelings of motherhood can be born again and even more consciously due to maturity. I’m blessed to be a mother again, it’s the best thing that can happen even at this age.”
“With the little one I relive everything from the beginning differently, because I am also different, I try to enjoy every second in contact with him. I’m trying to get enough of this whole wonder called life, baby, baby smell, laughter, mischief, everything.
The most important, important and meaningful mark I can leave on the world is my children, to leave them as much love as possible. I feel love, understanding, development of myself through my children, through the good and the difficult, there is no better university of life than this.”
The life of a politician has many obligations
Jenny Balatsinou is married to the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Vassilis Kikilia. She herself referred to her daily life with a politician:
“The life of a politician has many obligations, he is my husband, I am his wife, we have our jobs, a house we love and people we love. I try to enjoy the social obligations and always learn something new, because otherwise it doesn’t pass. Indeed, my summers are not carefree, but the last thing anyone wants to hear is whether I’m on vacation or not, and it certainly doesn’t matter.”
“From the moment you accept to put on this ‘suit’ it has its pros and cons. We can’t complain, but give our best. I have been in the public sphere for 35 years. When you’re young you care about the opinion of others, when you grow up you can’t please everyone.”
There has been fiction about my life, but all these years I do not answer
“There was heartache, I felt my words were misunderstood. There has been fiction about my life, but all these years I do not answer. There are few times that I have responded to fictions, especially regarding my children, my family, for me I have never picked up the gauntlet.
If I’m not well internally and mentally and I haven’t been taking care of my inner world, I can’t have a good time. As far as looks go, I thank God for blessing me in a way that some people like me and others don’t, it’s subjective,” he said.
For her, sport is a way of life, while it saddens her to see women who base their self-image on social media.
I believe in natural beauty
“Unfortunately, girls from a very young age do things to themselves that maybe in 10-20 years they will regret. I believe in natural beauty, but this does not mean that you will not take care of yourself aesthetically if you wish, but by all means excellent”.
“The stress of changing your features from an early age because you need to keep up with certain beauty standards, I don’t agree with. I can’t be inspired by Kim Kardashian, or someone too charismatic on TikTok, and I might sound like a dinosaur. I prefer to be inspired by people who have a value code that aligns with mine. I don’t judge anything else to be wrong or bad, it’s just the way I am.”
