The US Army announces the outcome of its operations against ISIS during 2024

/ The Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) announced that it carried out 94 operations against ISIS in Iraq and Syria during the first three months of this year.

Centcom said in a statement published on the X platform (formerly Twitter), that the operations it conducted in cooperation with the Iraqi security forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces resulted in the killing of 18 ISIS members and the arrest of 63 others.

She explained that 66 operations took place on the territory of Iraq, where 11 ISIS members were eliminated and 36 others were arrested, and 28 operations were carried out in Syria, where 7 members of the organization were eliminated and 27 others were arrested.

The leadership indicated in its statement that “the continued pursuit of about 2,500 ISIS fighters who are still at large in Iraq and Syria is considered an important element in inflicting a permanent defeat on ISIS.” It is also important that the ongoing international efforts to deport more than 9,000 detained ISIS members are important. “In detention centers in Syria, as well as the repatriation, rehabilitation and reintegration of more than 45,000 people and families from the Al-Hawl and Al-Roj camps.

General Michael Eric Kurella, commander of Centcom, stressed in the statement the United States’ commitment to “permanently defeating ISIS, given the danger it poses both regionally and globally.”
