Jonathan Toj Castellanos he is a young man originally from El Tejar, Chimaltenango, what will represent Guatemala in it programa United Space Schoolwhere you can meet space science experts and visit the NASA Johnson Space Center. What a chilero!

Jonathan is the only Guatemalan to participate in this project, which each year selects around 50 students from various countries.

The passion for the world of science has led to Jonathan Toj Castellanosa young 18-year-old student, to be selected to participate in the United Space School. In December 2023 the Guatemalan Association of Engineering and Space Sciences ―AGICE― He called for Guatemalan students interested in participating in this space program and among them Jonathan was selected.

This is not the only achievement that the Guatemalan has achieved at his age. In 2022 he won the gold medal in Chemistry at the National Science Olympiad and in 2023 the gold medal in Physics. That pride! Selecting him to participate in this project is a testament to his dedication and talent.

About the program

The Foundation for Innovation and Science in Space ―SHEETS― organized every summer by the United Space School in Houston, Texas, inviting students from more than 28 countries to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of space. This program offers a unique experience, designed to equip participants with the knowledge necessary to complete the space exploration project known as the “Manned Mission to Mars.”

While in Houston, students will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of space-related activities. From visits to the Johnson Space Center and the University of Houston Clear Lake, to receiving mentorship from leading engineers, scientists and leaders in the aerospace industry, the program offers full immersion in the world of space. Additionally, participants will learn to work as a team with people from other countries, encouraging international collaboration and the exchange of ideas.
