US fighter jets in UAE: US warplanes in Abu Dhabi to counter Houthi attacks in UAE

Abu Dhabi: US Fighter jets have arrived in Abu Dhabi in support of the threat of a Houthi attack on the United Arab Emirates. Six F-22 fighter jets arrived at Al-Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi on Saturday from the US Air Force Base in Virginia. The United States has said it will support the UAE in defending itself against attacks by Yemeni Houthi Rebels.

Al Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi currently has 2,000 US troops. The United States has not officially disclosed how many warplanes are currently being sent to the UAE. However, the U.S. Air Force has released footage of six F-22s taking off for the UAE. The U.S. Air Force’s Middle East Commander said in a statement that US warplanes will support the UAE Air Force, which already has strong systems in place to ensure stability and peace in the region.

The USS Cole, a US warship capable of destroying missiles in addition to warplanes, has arrived in the UAE. The state-of-the-art warship, now anchored in Abu Dhabi, will co-operate with the UAE Navy. In addition to intelligence and warning systems, the warship will also provide air defense support. The statement added that the military cooperation with the United States was a strategic partnership with the UAE.
