This memorandum initialed as part of Morocco‘s participation as guest country of honor in the 12th edition of the National Festival of Arts and Cultures (FESNAC), which is held in Fatick, aims to develop and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture, arts and heritage.

Through this agreement, the two parties undertake in the field of the promotion of arts and culture to encourage cooperation and cultural exchanges between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Senegal, particularly in the area of ​​promotion of arts and culture, preservation and enhancement of heritage and capacity building.

Under the terms of this memorandum, the two parties agree to support reciprocal participation in international cultural events (festivals, book fairs, artistic and heritage exhibitions,) organized on the territory of each of the two countries, to encourage the organization of activities cultural alternatively in the Republic of Senegal and the Kingdom of Morocco, to promote the exchange of artistic troupes and theater and music shows, as well as the exchange of visits by culture officials, book and arts professionals, intellectuals, artists, managers of book fairs, festivals, and managers of cultural and artistic establishments.

It is also a question of strengthening cooperation between the national libraries of the two countries, in particular through the mutual exchange of information, works and scientific publications for the benefit of research, the exchange of know-how and expertise. in terms of cultural and creative industries, the translation of major literary works from the two countries selected by each of the two parties.

The agreement also intends to encourage the development of exchanges between the company of the Daniel Sorano National Theater of Senegal and the Mohammed V Theater, and to support initiatives in the field of cinematographic co-production, training in cinema professions, preservation of heritage cinematographic through the restoration of films and sustained exchanges between the Moroccan Cinematographic Center (CCM), and the Directorate of Cinematography of Senegal.

Concerning the component relating to the preservation and enhancement of heritage, the two signatories agreed to promote the exchange and sharing of experiences in the areas of restoration, conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage. material and intangible, and to ensure the carrying out of joint scientific research work and specialized studies in the field of protection and preservation of archaeological heritage.

They also agree to encourage the organization of temporary heritage exhibitions and special events in the fields of archeology and heritage, collaboration in the fight against illicit trafficking of cultural property, as well as collaboration for the implementation international UNESCO conventions.

The signing ceremony of this memorandum of understanding took place in the Moroccan space at the African Renaissance Monument museum in the presence of HM the King’s ambassador to Senegal, Hassan Naciri, and members of the Moroccan delegation accompanying Mr. Bensaid.
