The contribution of the four athletes of the Protea Ioannina Sports Club to the conquest by the Greek National Team of the 1st place in the general ranking, among 33 countries, in the Pan-European Tae Kwon-Do ITF Championship Men – Women, Young Men – Young Women and Teenagers was great – Juniors, held in Koper, Slovenia on April 15-21.


The harvest of Aikaterinis Papadiotis, Aikaterinis Doukas, Evanthias Thomas and Georgios Dakoulas was five gold, four silver and two bronze medals.
Aikaterini Papadioti was crowned European Champion in the Women’s up to 62 kg category. Although injured from the start of her preparation for the Pan Europeans, she overcame and won the gold medal, while also winning two silver and one bronze medal in team sports and 5th place in individual techniques.
George Dakoulas was also named European Champion for 2024, in the category 2 Dan Men’s techniques, who won another gold medal in team techniques.
Ekaterini Duka was named European runner-up, winning a silver medal in the Women’s category up to 58 kg. He also won two silver and one bronze in team sports.
Two gold medals in Team Techniques and in Team Aerial Techniques were won by Evanthia Thomas, who also took 5th place in individual techniques.
“In this Pan-European Championship we made the “dream” come true. A great effort of so many months was crowned with success. A big well done to our champions, for the joy and satisfaction they gave us. They fought passionately for a whole week on the racetracks for distinction and they succeeded. We had a very hard preparation with many matches, many injuries and a lot of fatigue. We endured and succeeded. After all this effort we stood strong and got on the podium with the best”, says the coach of Protea Ioannina, George Papadiotis, in his statement.
